📺 It’s A Sin: This is the TV show everyone in the UK is talking about right now. Russell T Davies’ new drama about the arrival of the AIDS epidemic in the 1980s has already become something of a sensation here since first airing last Friday. It follows the lives of three young gay men (Ritchie, Colin and Roscoe) who move to London in 1981 and form a chosen family along with Ritchie’s university friend Jill. As you might expect from the subject matter, It’s A Sin will break your heart over and over but does so with a level of humour and warmth that never quite allows it to become too much to bare. All episodes, All 4.
📚 The Prophets by Robert Jones Jr: This is the story of Samuel and Isaiah, two young enslaved men who fall in love on a plantation known to them as Empty. They are largely left alone until a fellow slave called Amos decides to target them in order to win favour with his master. That’s an over simplification of what is an epic and multi-layered book. Totally gripping from start to finish and an education for me in so many ways. Incredibly it is Robert Jones Jr’s debut novel. Highly recommended, a must read. Out now, published by Riverrun/Quercus, £18.99.
📻 Out Loud with Kenney Fitzpatrick: A new show which we are proud to welcome to the Queerly Radio line-up, showcasing the best new music from LGBTQ+ artists every week. Kenney is an oracle when it comes to queer music and will be regularly welcoming artists on to the show to talk about their work. Out Loud plays every Sunday on Queerly at 12pm and 7pm, right after our show Bottomless Brunch.

📺 The Boys: I’ve just binged my way through two seasons of this brilliant comedy drama series from Amazon. Witty, gory and packed with great effects, The Boys asks what happens when superheroes go rogue and start abusing their powers? The answer is a clever twist on the superhero genre which offers something for a much broader audience. Season one & two included with Amazon Prime.
🎧 My Favourite Murder: This mega hit podcast has been around since 2016 so I’m a little late to the party here but since it was new to me I thought worth a mention here too. Each week hosts Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark select a murder (or other similarly grizzly crime) to recount and discuss. It’s quite dark and certainly not for the faint hearted but ticks a lot of boxes for my candid speaking, crime thriller and puzzle solving fascination. All podcast platforms.
📺 The Job Lot: This ITV sitcom which began in 2013 is getting a new lease of life thanks to all episodes appearing on Netflix. It’s about the employees at a dysfunctional Job Centre as they cope with workplace drama, peculiar clients, awkward mishaps and their own unfulfilled dreams. A big name cast includes Sarah Hadland, Russell Tovey and Angela Curran. Definitely one for fans of The Office or Motherland and perfectly manageable lockdown viewing.

That’s all for this week. Don’t forget we are back with more #QueerlyLoves in Queerly’s Bottomless Brunch LIVE on Sunday from 10am. Do join us.
