Cooking with Paris, Knitting with Tom & Dancing with John
Hi ya!
Welcome to The Queerly Newsletter. I had a little break last week. Hope you didn't mind too much.
Lots in store for you today including some good Strictly news (yes, Strictly already! Put the heating on and crack open a bucket of Celebrations, it is basically Christmas now), knitting with Tom Daley and cooking with Paris Hilton. Her new catchphrase is "sliving" - apparently it means slaying and killing it while living your best life.
I'll hopefully be "sliving" on Queerly Radio from 5pm BST today, I do hope you will sliv along with me - you can now WhatsApp the studio - head to hello.queerlyradio.com to connect!
Anyway, on with the news...
Queerly News
The big queer entertainment stories making headlines this week...

The former Great British Bake Off winner will compete in Strictly Come Dancing’s first all-male partnership.
The 33-year-old chef is the fourth contestant to be confirmed for the next series of the BBC One show.

Taylor Swift teases collaboration with Phoebe Bridgers — www.gaytimes.co.uk
Fans believe Taylor Swift has teamed up with Phoebe Bridgers for the upcoming release of Red (Taylor’s Version).
The new Red era is upon us and Taylor Swift has already hinted at what we can expect for the re-release of her chart-topping record.
In a new social post, Swift shared a short video with scrambled words and vocals against an autumnal background. The video has left fans quickly piecing together clues to see what the hints could mean.
15 of Olympic champion Tom Daley's greatest knits — attitude.co.uk
Any fan of Tom Daley's will have followed the diving star's growing love for knitting and crochet over the past year, but the Olympic champion's recent poolside needle exploits have suddenly thrust the 27-year-old's unlikely hobby into global spotlight.
After taking up knitting during the first lockdown last year, Tom has since set up a dedicated Instagram page, 'Made with Love by Tom Daley', where the father-of-one shares his latest creations and often raffles them off for charity.
Paul Johnson dies at 50 after catching Covid — www.bbc.co.uk
The influential Chicago house music DJ has died at the age of 50 after contracting Covid-19.
Johnson, who had a global hit with Get Get Down in 1999 and was named as an influence by Daft Punk, had spent several weeks in hospital.
A statement on his Facebook page read: "Our greatness passed away this morning at 9am, the house music legend we all know as PJ aka Paul Johnson."

Is the music industry finally waking up?

New TV, movies and more to rescue you from boredom this weekend...
Cooking With Paris — www.netflix.com
I've only watched half of the first episode (Brunch with Kim Kardashian) so far but can tell I will devour this show over the weekend. Beyond ridiculous and therefore brilliant. Paris' motto is "any bitch can cook" and she certainly adds her own flair to every dish.
Jungle Cruise — www.disneyplus.com
I know some issues have been raised with this film but if you want fun, adventure and escapism on an epic scale this weekend, Jungle Cruise will be hard to beat. It's in cinemas and streaming on Disney+ with a Premier Access fee.
Pose (Series 3) — www.bbc.co.uk
The third and final season of Pose arrives on UK television on Sunday.
It’s now 1994 and ballroom feels like a distant memory for Blanca, who struggles to balance being a mother with being a present partner to her new love and her latest role as a nurse’s aide.
Meanwhile, as AIDS becomes the leading cause of death for Americans aged 25 to 44, Pray Tell contends with unexpected health burdens.
The Guncle by Steven Rowley — www.amazon.co.uk
From the bestselling author of Lily and the Octopus and The Editor comes a warm and deeply funny novel about a once-famous gay sitcom star whose unexpected family tragedy leaves him with his niece and nephew for the summer.
This has only been published in the US so far but is available from several UK based booksellers - I've only linked to Amazon here because they had it in stock.
